Philadelphia Fringe
Labor Day weekend marks the beginning of the 13th annual Philadelphia Live Arts Festival. This two week festival showcases some of the newest and most cutting edge performances by international and local performing artists alike. These events take place in traditional theaters, unexpected spaces (temporarily transformed into venues just for the festival), as well as out of doors, on street corners and in parks. Every nook and cranny of the city is jam-packed with performing arts for the next 15 days.
The Philadelphia Live Arts Festival, Philadelphia Fringe was founded in 1997 by experimental artists who were looking to push the boundaries of performing arts being produced in the city. Modeled on the original Fringe of Edinburgh, Scotland (founded in 1947), Philadelphia’s Live Arts Festival has blossomed into the premiere experimental festival in the United States.
The festival runs this year from September 3 to 18th. A full list of performances can be found on their website here.
