About the Capodimonte Museum Walk in Naples

The Capodimonte Museum is one of Naples' treasure troves. Tucked into a verdant hill, just north of the city center, this former royal palace of the Bourbon kings of Naples (the Two Sicilies, as the empire was then called) during the 18th century boasts sprawling halls that are home to one of the greatest collections of Renaissance and Baroque art in the world. This three-hour walk is aimed at being an in-depth exploration of the collection, focusing on key pieces which represent important landmarks in painting style and technique. We will also undoubtedly discuss the reign of the Bourbons in Naples, as many of the grand dining and reception halls still remain intact, and there are many royal family portraits scattered throughout the collection.
