Tour Description
From admiring sophisticated homes overlooking the river, to spying on Parisians taking their daily stroll along the river banks, to catching glimpses of some of the world’s most iconic monuments, spending a bit of time floating down and walking along the Seine is an unmissable experience for any visitor to Paris.

Upon meeting your local expert in the heart of the city, you will have the opportunity to begin your orientation to Paris and the river Seine on dry land. You will take a moment to understand your surroundings and learn about the importance of the Latin Quarter before wandering to the Île de la Cité, and past its most famous edifice, Notre-Dame.

You will then make your way to a stop on the route of the Batobus. Boarding the next available boat together, you will begin your journey westward. From the river, you will be able to spot some of the monuments that make the city so unforgettable: from the Louvre Museum and the Tuileries Garden, to the Musée d’Orsay and the Grand Palais, one by one, you will check each postcard-perfect building off of your list. Your expert will help you understand the history and significance of these buildings as you cruise toward your final destination.

What better way to end your Seine experience than by disembarking at the foot of the Eiffel Tower? Here you will be able to ask your expert any lingering questions and take a few memorable photographs before saying au revoir.

  • You want to discover the central highlights of Paris in a unique format, partially by foot and partially by boat.
  • You don’t feel up to walking for a full 2.5 hours, but still want to see the major sites. You’ll be able to sit back, relax and enjoy Paris from a comfy seat on the Batobus for part of this tour.

Additional Trip-Planning Resources

  • For more information on planning your travels to France, take a read through our Context Stories.
  • If you are looking to learn more about Paris prior to a visit, check out our online lecture geared to travelers headed to the City of Light.

Will I see all of the major monuments on this tour?
Paris is a large city with a generous amount of famous landmarks. It is nearly impossible to see everything in 2.5 hours, but the format of this tour allows you to catch a glimpse of quite a few. You may want to look at some of our other tours, which visit Montmartre, Opera Garnier, the Louvre, or Versailles to round out your time.

What kind of boat will I ride on this tour?
The Batobus is a public hop on/hop off boat with several stops across the city. We use this boat as it allows us to start our tour in the center of the city and end by the Eiffel Tower. Please be aware that this is a large public boat that is popular with tourists of all kinds. The boat has a glass roof which can be partially opened during good weather, but it can sometimes become quite hot in the summer sun.

What if I want a private boat?
Please take a look at our Paris by Private Luxury Yacht tour, which will provide a fully private experience on the Seine.

What about bad weather?
Our tours operate rain or shine. The boat we take on this tour has a glass roof which is closed in the event of rain. It also never hurts to have an umbrella on hand.

Occasionally, the Seine river experiences periods of high waters and flooding due to rain. This may affect the operation of the Batobus. In the event that the Batobus cannot run due to weather, we will offer you an alternative itinerary or a chance to reschedule.

Is this tour good for kids?
Yes! We have some excellent family-friendly expert guides who can appeal to the learning styles of children.
.
We understand that some of our valued guests may have mobility concerns, and we want to ensure you have a comfortable and enjoyable experience throughout your tour. If there are any accessibility concerns that your tour guide will need to be aware of, please let our team know at the time of booking.

Is this tour low-mobility or wheelchair-friendly?
This tour has a large seated portion, and therefore is a good option for clients with low-mobility or who don’t feel up to walking for a full 2.5 hour tour. Not all stops for the Batobus are wheelchair accessible, however, so please reach out to see how we can accommodate.

Georgia was a wonderful guide who kept jet lagged adults and teens engaged!
We arrived at 2 o’clock. Architec just ordered herself a coffee which she proceeded to finish and we walked quickly in the rain. (I know she can’t be blamed for the rain) to see a place on the tour she had no microphone. There were eight people. She spoke to one person and we couldn’t hear her again. She knew they were going to be eight people and she said I wish I had a microphone within, got to the boat right as it was leaving there were no spots together because we arrived exactly as it was leaving, so how was she supposed to give us a tour if we were not sitting together? She didn’t even think of that. Finally after the second stop (15 minutes into tour)and people got off we finally got seats close to her and she spoke very quietly about very few things. I even had to ask her to tell us more about Paris, as she start to tell us more about herself. There is no way I’m paying $800 for that tour .
Georgia was terrific. Full of fun historical facts and architectural information. She exceeded my expectations by bringing a great binder with photos and maps for context to what she was discussing. Would recommend her to anyone.
