First-time, and even repeat, visitors of Venice often struggle to get a true sense of the city beyond the main monuments. This walk will help you muddle through the tiny calle and prioritize your stay.
Our Introduction to Venice walk is designed to help you get situated on your arrival. Our docent, an orienteer and city resident who knows Venice well, will meet you at your hotel and take you on a 2-hour walk of the immediate surroundings. (Unless, of course, you are staying someplace remote or in an area of minimal interest, in which case we'll set up a meeting point to explore the area of your choice.)
This is not a scholarly walk. It is meant to give you a broad introduction and taste of Venice on your first day. The discussion may veer towards life in the lagoon, where to find the best cicchetti, or current Italian politics.
In order to help your docent tailor the walk to your group's interests, please use the special request form to tell us more about yourselves. Will this be your first time in Venice or are you frequent flyers? Are you more interested in knowing great restaurants and shopping or having a discussion of the monuments? If you prefer to visit a different neighborhood or have something specific in mind you would definitely like to visit, please let us know so that your docent can plan accordingly.
The cost of this tour is priced for a group of six people. We sometimes allow for groups as large as eight people, for which we charge 20 Euros for each additional person. This will automatically be calculated when you "checkout". For groups larger than eight we require that you split into two smaller groups.
