In the summer, starting late is not a problem. However, in the winter we suggest sticking to 9 am as it gets dark fairly early.
Our tour does not include the inside of the Scott Memorial. We may visit the Writers Museum or the National Museum. These are free of charge.

Hugh was born in Scotland, and raised on his father’s farm in Perthshire. He was educated at Cambridge University, where he read French and German literature. After completing his doctoral thesis in German, he joined the British foreign service, and spent over 25 years travelling the world as a diplomat, ultimately with the rank of ambassador.
Jane Bonsall is a PhD candidate in Medieval English Literature at the University of Edinburgh. She completed her undergraduate degree in English Literature and History at Macalester College in Minnesota, and while studying abroad in Edinburgh she fell in love with the city. She received her Masters degree in Medieval Literature at the University of Edinburgh in 2013, and shortly thereafter entered her current PhD programme. Her research explores the power of supernatural women in medieval English literature and society. Jane teaches English Literature at the University, and continues to find Edinburgh an inspiring and enthralling backdrop for her study of literature, history, and the power of a compelling narrative.
Sandra is a native of Edinburgh. After studies in French and Spanish at Aberdeen University, Sandra returned to her home city. For many years she has shared her passion for Edinburgh with visitors. She loves to introduce others to the hidden corners of her city whilst incorporating her love of literature and her enthusiasm for natural history into her explanations.
