Tour Description
The Royal Palace of Madrid is one of only a handful of official Heads of State residences open to the general public. Your tour begins in front of the palace façade, where you will admire the majestic building designed by various architects including Giovanni Battista Sacchetti and Francesco Sabatini. A testament to Spain’s rich heritage, you will notice elements of Baroque and Neoclassical architectural styles that punctuate the palace exterior and beg you to explore further.

Please note: you may encounter long queues at ticket booths before accessing the Palace, given a change in the organization of the entry procedures.

Stepping inside, you will be transported by opulent decorations, intricate artwork, and a series of captivating rooms that embody the country’s artistic and cultural legacy. Rooms of the palace are open to the public on a staggered basis, so you may have the chance to visit the Throne Room, the Hall of Columns, or perhaps even the Crown Room. As you make your way around the palace, you will learn of state ceremonies and royal events that have left their mark on Spanish history. You will also visit the armory, which houses a significant collection of historical weapons and armor, providing insight into Spain’s military past.

Following your visit to the Royal Palace interiors, your expert will accompany you on a short discovery of the Campo del Moro Gardens. Named after the Moorish forces that camped here in the 12th century, the expansive landscape presents a perfect backdrop to wrap up your visit and ask any lingering questions before you part ways.

  • If children under 18 qualify for free tickets, why am I required to purchase a ticket for my child? In order to save time and expedite the tour, we purchase skip-the-line tickets so they may enter as quickly as possible.

  • Can we visit the royal kitchens?
No, unfortunately, we cannot offer a visit to the royal kitchens on this tour at the moment.

  • What are skip-the-line tickets? For this tour, your Royal Palace tickets are pre-purchased which allows you to skip the ticket office line upon arrival at the venue. You may still have to wait in a security line or in a line to have your pre-purchased ticket scanned.

Adam is an informative and energetic guide. He managed to take us through all the rooms with thorough explanation and detail in spite of the crowd of visitors. We never felt rushed. He patiently answered all our questions.
Clara was wonderful! Knew the subject/tour information very well and then some. Added her own perspectives which we enjoyed and found informative. Much recommended.
