Context Travel Naples Tours

Naples, a city where history is not just remembered but lived, is renowned for its pizza, which has roots as deep as the city's ancient Greek foundations. From those times, Naples evolved into a key Roman city, only to witness the dramatic destruction of Pompeii and Herculaneum by Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD. Our experience was amazing, from the calm, kind driver "Anso" who picked us up at our hotel near Pompeii, to our guide, Francesca, who matched how and what she chose to show us with what she sensed we were most interested in. But most importantly, she did this all in a way that made each of us feel like she cared about us as people and appreciated our interest in Pompeii. She is one of the most appropriately educated/experienced guides for Pompeii, but I would seek her out again for just about any tour regarding Roman/Italian/Greek culture. Thank you Context for pulling together such a great team, and doing it in an effortless way. You are well worth the premium price! We will see you again.
Roberta was absolutely amazing. My husband and I are college professors, and we have pretty high standards for educational tours. The guide was intellectually gifted in the subject matter and in English; she was amazingly friendly and warm, so much so that I thought we would be great friends if I happened to live in Naples; she was able in just 2 1/2 hours to give us a superb tour of this vast museum, tying it to our prior visit to Herculaneum and enabling us to stay at the museum after the tour ended and have a better sense of the significance of all we saw. Our only regret is that we couldn't hire her on the spot to take us around Naples or to Pompeii! I cannot recommend her--and all the Context Travel tours we had in Italy--enough. These tours are not inexpensive, but they are worth every penny.
We had a wonderful morning exploring the ruins at our own pace with our own guide. She easily accommodated our grumpy twin teenage boys into the mix to involve them as much as possible. Given the heat and crowds, we never felt rushed or crushed. Rather we got to see some Pompeii secrets that we would have never have found on our own. Grazie
