We’ll kick things off at one of Paris’s most renowned sites, the Musée d’Orsay. In the company of an art historian, we will explore the rich nineteen and early twentieth-century collections of this world-class museum. We'll dive into one of the best collections of Impressionist art in Paris and learn about the major art movements of the period—the Barbizon school, Realism, and Impressionism—as well as their most celebrated players, including Monet, Degas, and Courbet.

After a morning well-spent and fueled on some coffee, we’ll leave the fascinating art collection behind and find a local dining spot for lunch. After lunch, we’ll experience the Parisian metro as we head for a few stops to Montmartre, the epicenter of bohemian life. During this afternoon walking tour we will look at the traditions, lifestyle, and bohemian character of this storied neighborhood over the centuries. Located on a hill above Paris' Right Bank, Montmartre has always stood apart from the rest of the city, known for the artists, writers, and bohemians who changed a sleepy district into one of the most important centers for art and radical thought in the world. Together with our expert, we’ll learn about the history and culture of this illustrious quartier.

At the end of our full-day itinerary, we will emerge with a better idea of the art on offer in this lively French capital, and the stories behind how Paris has achieved such artistic status. After having ventured together across the city to sites relevant to the artistic identity of Paris, our full-day tour will leave us with a greater appreciation of what there is to offer.

Marie is exceptional - her knowledge of art and explaining the expansion of ideas & development within the field was captivating to say the least… she was able to answer any question we had .. Her enthusiasm for the world of art and Paris - made the full day too short for us even in the pouring rain…
The tour was everything I hoped for and more. Isabelle has not only superb art history and particularly the impressionists knowledge but then she made it all become real in our trek through montmartre. And as a multi generational Parisian she could truly unravel the cultural and historical mysteries of this great city.
Loved the tour of the Musée d’Orsay. At our request, we spent most of the time on the first floor. But adding the tour of Montmartre made the day very long.
