We'll begin by discovering the Archaeological Park of the Neapolis, one of the most significant Greek and Roman archaeological sites in the Mediterranean. The ruins are a testament to the crucial role this city played in ancient antiquity, as the imposing remains of the Greek theatre demonstrate. With our local expert, we will learn about Neapolis' monumental fountain, the Roman amphitheater where gladiators once fought, and the Ear of Dionysius, a huge cavern with surprising acoustic properties due to its shape. Many legends are associated with this cave and its assumed builder, the infamous tyrant Dionysius.

Following the visit to the archaeological park, we will head off to nearby Ortigia for a pleasant stroll through its quaint streets and alleyways. We'll explore around two hundred and fifty thousand years of history as well as Ortigia's architectural stratifications and decorations which its complex and rich past. We will finish the tour by discussing Ortigia’s splendid architectural history and the remains of Greek, Roman, Byzantine, Gothic-Catalan, Norman, and Renaissance styles that decorate this island, just under a square kilometer in size.

We had a very enjoyable and informative experience with our guide. To walk the Archaeological Park and visit the duomo and church in Ortigia with her, brought the background history to life and made it all the more memorable and focused. Her storytelling reflected the depth of her historical and mythological understanding, in particular the cultural fusion of the practices and architecture. She filled in many gaps for us and her dry humour was delightful. Thank you!
Italo is an excellent guide. The only issue was that we received notice to meet him at 9:30 am and he had us listed for the tour at 2:30. Luckily he had another couple to meet at 10 am and the four of us took the archeological tour. Italo then met us at 2:30 for the Ortigia tour. If he did not have the 10 tour there would have been a real mix up. We really enjoyed the tour with him. Very knowledgeable and pleasant.
Guiseppe was fabulous. He gave a 360 degree view of the area from the flora to the history to the architecture. He was a joy to spend four hours with. Very knowledgeable and personable.
