Dan Bridgett grew up in the English countryside before heading to Oxford University and then, aged 22, moving to London to work as a gossip columnist on the Evening Standard newspaper. It was the perfect education in London life: celebrities, politicians, royals, actors, rogues - and the occasional scandal.

Almost three decades later, Dan still thinks the West End is the unofficial capital of the world. His career has taken him from reporting on London society to working on some of Britain's biggest infrastructure projects, including the construction of the new Wembley Stadium, and senior roles in international transport businesses. He has also lived in Istanbul and Dubai.

But London remains his first love. In his quintessentially English way, Dan will tell you about the hidden stories behind the famous buildings and the characters and chancers who shaped the city.
