It's difficult because Giorgio is very pleasant and knowledgeable.

Am thinking he would benefit from the old IBM maxim: Tell them what you'll tell them, tell them and then tell them what you told them. That would give him structure. He should control the coffee break to inform rather than allow the time disintegrate into tourist blather. Oh, he has to stop fumbling with his visuals. He has very good maps and photos but he can't find them in his notebook. Flipping pages back and forth reduces both his confidence and our's in him. That's true with most Context guides. It's disconcerting to have the guide flip page after page, back and forth. Tabs could be used to quickly find the desired document.

Formulaic structure should help.

This walk with Kees Kaldenbach was exceptional. Among the best tours we've ever taken. Felt like we were briefly in a wonderful college-level art history class. He knows and loves his subject and it shows. He told the story well and gave us some basic tools that we may use to appreciate the Dutch masters on our own. We'd eagerly take another tour with him.

We were very disappointed in this walk, especially after re-reading the description on the Context website that got us excited about it in the first place. We wanted to hear the story of the Dutch golden age, and we didn't get it. We did not visit a canal house museum as stated on the website, and the visit to the West India Company House was just the outside as the initial meeting point. The visit to the Amsterdam museum was just to the lobby as the museum was closing. There were interesting details about the construction of the canal houses due to the docent's architecture background, but this walk didn't really tell us about the traders and explorers or tell us what life was like in that fascinating period.
