Washington DC Private Tours and Washington DC Guided Tours

Washington Tours and Experiences Hosted by Local Experts

Once touted as “The American Rome,” the city’s gridded streets are graced by grand facades and animated by the energy of seasoned politicians, bright-eyed students, and everyone in between.
In 1791, a young French architect named Pierre Charles L’Enfant conjured a vision for a new capital city on a spit of swampy land nestled at the confluence of the Anacostia and Potomac Rivers. More than 200 years later, the District of Columbia spans 68 square miles and boasts more than 160 monuments and memorials, dozens of museums, libraries, and theaters, and countless festivals and street fairs. Explore the spirit of the capital with Context's Washington DC private tours and Washington DC small group tours.

One of the great art museums in the world with the only Leonardo DaVinci painting in the western hemisphere. Stephen did a great job guiding us through the museum, teaching us its history, and showing us the highlights of the art collection. Very enjoyable morning at the museum.
This was an incredible tour and Iook forward to taking again on my next visit. I loved having Mary Jo, my own personal historian available to answer all my questions and curiousities.
Gabrielle was a fabulous tour guide. She did such a good job explaining the different periods of art and how to contrast and compare them. She led us through the massive gallery and was patient with our wandering and questions. I highly recommend her and Context tours for those who don’t know much about art and want to do something besides walk by paintings and read what is on the walls. She gave us historical context and insight into the artwork.
