About the Pisa in Context Walk in Florence

Pisa is a superb example of visiting a city "in context." Due to the popular and photogenic Campo dei Miracoli (home to the Leaning Tower), daytrippers throng to the city on a daily basis but are normally circumscribed to this very small area of the city. With our half-day excursion from Florence, we will explore not only the religious structures of the city that have made it world famous but will delve into its dramatic political history, as a Tuscan republic, its significance as a Medieval art center and its present-day guise as a university town.
