Tour Description
Get ready for a Vatican adventure with your family, where the adults can take a step back and relax. The kids are in the hands of an expert guide who’ll bring this iconic museum to life with a whirlwind of stories, secrets, and ancient mysteries that are waiting to be unraveled.

Your jaw will drop when you stand in front of giants sculpted from marble, their eyes gleaming under golden ceilings. Crack secret codes hidden in paintings that look real enough to leap off the walls. Learn about the tapestries that line the walls and the maps of Italy that are laid out so the Pope could walk from the North to the South of Italy on his way to work every day.

The best part? You won't just see these amazing things, you'll understand them. Your guide is your translator, turning confusing names and dates into epic tales about brave knights, mischievous popes, and artists who were cooler than rock stars.

And that famous ceiling everyone talks about? Get ready to be blown away. Picture yourself staring up at Michelangelo's amazing artwork inside the Sistine Chapel, feeling like you're floating in a sea of angels and prophets. Your Vatican expert will unlock the secrets hidden in every brushstroke and engage your family with background on Michaelangelo’s life and his work within the Catholic Church, making you feel like a real art detective.

This isn't just another tour — it’s a personalized adventure just for your family. Your kids will be wide-eyed in wonder, mouths slightly open in awe. Navigate the Vatican with your guide like explorers, finding hidden gems everyone else is walking past. You'll laugh, you’ll learn, and you’ll create lasting memories.
Pack your sense of adventure, show up with your curiosity, and get ready for a Vatican experience you'll never forget.

Are strollers allowed in the Vatican?
While strollers are permitted, our typical itinerary within the Vatican Museums includes stairs. You will have the option to carry the stroller up these stairs, or we can move through elevators, which are available in certain areas. However, please be advised that the dense crowds can make it challenging to maneuver a stroller through the galleries.

Can I bring my infant or toddler on this walking tour?

While we welcome families, this tour is ideally suited for children aged 5 to 12. The extensive walking and noisy crowds at the Vatican Museums can be overwhelming for very young children, especially in the bustling summer months. For more tailored advice to suit your family's needs, please feel free to reach out to us.

Do the Vatican Museums have a dress code?
Yes, their policies require modest attire to respect the sanctity of the site. This generally includes covering shoulders and knees for both men and women. It's also advisable to wear comfortable footwear, as there is a substantial walking distance involved in this tour.

How crowded are the Vatican sites?
Please be aware that during the summer travel period, the Vatican Museums can be subject to extremely high levels of visitor traffic. It’s important to anticipate slower movement, limited visibility, and potential restrictions on accessing certain areas due to the density of crowds. Our experienced guides are adept at navigating through these challenging conditions and will strive to optimize your tour's route.

Will we be able to buy water or snacks once we are inside?
There is a cafe inside the museums, but it is near the end of the route.  It is best if you plan enough time to have a good breakfast or lunch before your visit and pack water for your kids, especially on hot summer days.

What is the best time of year to visit with kids?

The Vatican Museums see upwards of 35,000 visitors per day in the high season (Easter - September) and there is very little air conditioning in the buildings. It can be very hot in peak summer and the crowds make it feel even hotter. We recommend visiting during the offseason if possible - October, November, January, and February are the least crowded and least hot months to plan a visit with kids.

Does this tour include the Vatican Gardens?
The Vatican Gardens can only be accessed through a separate tour and ticket, available exclusively via the Vatican's website, and are part of a guided experience offered by the Vatican itself. This means the general public is unable to explore the gardens on their own.

Do people with disabilities need to pay to enter the Vatican Museums?

Guests with disabilities may be entitled to free entry to the Vatican Museums. Please contact us to find out if you qualify.

Does this walk "skip the line"?
Yes, we use reserved, timed tickets to bypass the ticket line at the entrance. Context, as all other registered tour companies with special accounts at the Vatican, can enter without waiting in the general entry line. Despite using the reserved entrance, "skipping the line," does not alleviate the biggest difficulty in visiting the Vatican: the crowds. The most important consideration is timing your visit to avoid large tour groups and cruise ships. We schedule our walks to try and find the best conditions inside the museums. Please note, that Roma Passes can not be used for this tour.

She was lovely and knew when to cater to my kids vs overload us on info.
Brenda was a wonderful Vatican guide. Very knowledgeable and related well to our 10 and 13 year old grandkids. And she did a great job maneuvering us through the wall to wall crowds.
Excellent tour guide.
