About the Dorsoduro: From Gondolas to Contemporary Art Walk in Venice

Our neighborhood stroll through Dorsoduro will uncover one of the city's most exciting and intriguing creative neighborhoods. Dorsoduro is home to two of the city's most important art collections, the Accademia and the Peggy Guggenheim Collection, as well as being a lively university district. In addition to being on the cutting edge of contemporary art, Dorsoduro also contains a traditionally Venetian core, best exemplified by characteristic residential squares, like Campo Santa Margherita, which illustrates everyday Venetian life, with its morning food market and outdoor cafes. Should time allow, this walk may also head to the Giudecca, a former working-class suburb that has recently undergone a revamp, turning it into one of the most stylish addresses in the city.

Starting near the iconic Salute church, located at the eastern tip of the district, we will meander the surrounding alleys and piazzas. Our docent will use these areas to explore the characteristic of the neighborhood, as
