Audio Guide Description
  • Put your map away and take your time to learn the history of St Augustine as a local guides you through the city
  • Hit play together and stroll the city or wander solo, but always with an expert in your ear as your personal guide

From its jaw-dropping Bridge of Lions to the resilient fortress of Castillo de San Marcos, St. Augustine is like a historical theme park where the exhibits are real, and the stories are legendary! On this audio guide tour, you'll take over 350 years of fascinating history with Context Travel expert and storyteller Jennifer Geraghty. As you walk, she'll bring the city's colorful characters to life, recount epic battles, and highlight the many historical firsts that shaped the city.

Starting in front of the Governor's House Cultural Center and Museum, you'll hear how the city began as a humble Spanish outpost and blossomed into a glittering jewel of the Gilded Age. From there, you'll make your way around St Augustine's Historic District and see several sites listed in the National Register of Historic Places. You'll see the Ximenez-Fatio House, the Sanchez House, and St Augustine's oldest house, the Gonzalez Alvarez House, and learn to spot Spanish and British architectural influences. Going up St George Street, Jennifer will also show you the Prince Murat Cottage and the Stanbury Cottage, known as the Gingerbread House. You'll see where the city walls once stood and pass through the Old City Gates. In Plaza de la Constitución, the oldest public space in the US, you'll hear the secrets behind the square‘s obelisk, like why it's the only one of its kind globally.

Being able to tour the city at 7:30M with no crowds was magical. It was me and the street cleaners and a few early morning dog walkers. Completely at peace. I loved that I was able to explore on my own time, pause for a coffee when I felt like it, grasp the history of the city and all before I logged onto work. As a digital nomad, this is the perfect solution for getting to experience a city without the pressure and price of a scheduled tour. Don't get me wrong, I love a live tour guide experience, but sometimes my schedule doesn't allow for it. If I could do one of these in every US city, every city in general that I travel to, I would! I have been to St Augustine a few times, and I learned more in an hour and 15 minutes with this audio guide than I have any previous visit. I felt it was extremely easy to navigate and loved how the GPS and information matched my movements. The pace was perfect and I learned so much!
