Dony was our guide; he perfectly choreographed the tour of the grand canal, intermingling time periods of history based on the grand palaces we were passing. We also got a great sense of history and life in Venice today. HIGHLY recommend both Dony as a guide and this tour in particular. We didn’t have long in Venice and so this was the absolute choice for us!
Olivia was a magnificent guide. She was personable, engaging and extremely knowledgeable. My wife and I were especially interested in the Sistine Chapel. Olivia sat us down on a bench in the Vatican Gardens and, with paper copy and iPad of the Sistine Chapel in hand, explained various interpretations of every aspect of the incredibly large and complex mural by Michelangelo. Although art history and interpretation is Olivia’s strong suit, she also educated us very well on the relationship between the Vatican, Italy and the world, both historically and in contemporary times. I am legally blind, which she took into account respectfully, using her iPad to blow up the picture of the Sistine Chapel and patiently pointing out where the Adam-reaching-to-God part of the Sistine Chapel painting is. She ensured that we knew of restroom and water opportunities; took us to a shop to get a book for our grandson; and walked us to a taxi stand afterward! We highly recommend Olivia.
