Ryan was an outstanding guide. His knowledge of local history, teaching skills, thorough preparation (accompanied by maps and photos/illustrations on his laptop), and time-management skills were exceptional. Among the many fine tour guides we have encountered, Ryan tour displayed the most organization and preplanning. He also has a cheerful demeanor and warm sense humor, which kept things conversational and entertaining, without sacrificing substance. Finally, he was willing to volunteer his help that extended beyond the tour schedule. After our three-hour session, he guided us through the subway system to our next destination. This extra help was especially appreciated since my brother and I are elderly newcomers to New York City. In short, Ryan is worth every penny as a tour guide, and then some. Exceptionally recommended.

The Met Museum tour was outstanding. Our guide, a Columbia University art professor, selected a variety of art objects to explore interesting issues and controversies in the art world. For example, why are ancient Egyptian sculptures more durable than Greek or Roman figures? How did Greek and Roman artists influence ancient Indian sculptors? Why were Gilded Age robber barons motivated to leave their priceless art collections to museums? Or why does today’s financial system discourage artistic creativity compared to the recent past? In short, this tour is a highly original excursion into the both the Met”s collection and art history. Highly recommended tour for both art novices and the more experienced aficionados.
Our New York in a Half-Day Tour was excellent. For first-time visitors, this tour will serve as the perfect introduction to the city’s many iconic sites: Central Park, Times Square, the NY City Library, the Empire State building, Rockefeller Center, Grand Central Station, among others. Our guide, a trained academic historian, provided fascinating stories of New York’s past leaders and business figures, explaining their impact on the city’s development. Along the way, he also identified and exploded interesting metropolitan myths. A highly recommended tour.
