Tour Description
Explore the colorful city of Guanajuato, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, on this full-day excursion from San Miguel de Allende. Nestled in the mountains, Guanajuato features picturesque landscapes, from charming alleyways to the panoramic views of the surrounding hills. The quaint city has a rich history, evident in its well-preserved colonial architecture, cobblestone streets, and numerous historic landmarks.

After pickup from your accommodation in San Miguel de Allende, you'll make the 1.5-hour drive toward Guanajuato in your private vehicle with your expert guide. You'll make your first stop at Pípila Monument, which was named after Juan José de los Reyes Martínez, known as "El Pipila." El Pipila was a key figure during the Mexican War of Independence in the early 19th century and is commemorated for his bravery. You'll ride down the cable car where your expert will lead you to witness the stunning architecture of Teatro Juarez and 17th-century paintings at Templo de la Companía - both among the most emblematic buildings in Guanajuato.

The Diego Rivera House Museum is located in the house where the renowned Mexican artist was born in 1886. You'll be guided through time as you get a glimpse into the early life of one of Mexico's most famous artists including his paintings, sketches, and personal items. You'll pass by Plaza de la Paz, the aristocratic center of the city with a distinctive colonial style, characterized by colorful facades, wrought-iron balconies, and intricate stonework. The most prominent being the BasĂlica of Our Lady of Guanajuato, you'll find the oldest statue of the Virgin Mary in the Americas, which dates from the year 714.

Before taking the cable car back up the hill, you'll stop for a delicious local lunch with traditional options specific to the region, like enchiladas mineras or gorditas (please inform us of any dietary restrictions in advance). At the end of your full-day tour, you'll head back to San Miguel de Allende with your expert guide where you'll be dropped off at your accommodation.
