Of the Context guides we've encountered over the years, this one was not one of the strongest. Do not want to throw him under the bus as he was very pleasant, but we didn't really cover what we expected. For instance, we went into two people's homes to see how the regular people live which was fine, but spent about ten minutes at the end of the tour looking at the French Concession, which was not what we had expected. Our tour of the Shanghai Art Museum was disappointing as we had to do much of it on our own so don't feel as though we learned as much as we had, say with our other guide in Beijing. We recognize that our guide was teaching a class in the mornings, and that Context went out of their way to arrange these afternoon tours. He did do a good job taking us through the Bund and the many fascinating buildings and architecture.
