COVID-19: Context Tours Safety Criteria

After over a year of normal life being on pause, many of us are anxious to be out, about, and traveling once again. And here at Context, we’re so excited to get back to leading tours in person! At the same time, our highest priority is the safety of our customers, our experts, and the communities in which we all live and operate.

To that end, and to promote safe touring, we’ve instituted the following guidelines for in person tours. These guidelines take into account recommendations from leading experts including the CDC, WHO, and global travel associations. We are proud to adhere to TourCare, a set of health and sanitization guidelines designed by tourism’s leading associations specifically for tour operator members. Context is also aligned with the Safe Travels protocols outlined by the WTTC as well as ATTA's COVID-19 Health & Safety Guidelines, developed in collaboration with Cleveland Clinic.

This is a living document. We will keep this page updated as national restrictions and public health guidelines evolve.

We adhere to all local and venue rules and regulations. Context operates tours only in jurisdictions where touring is either explicitly authorized or where groups of up to 10 individuals are permitted to gather. We reserve the right to cancel or modify a tour if regulations change quickly or if we are unable to procure tickets given occupancy limits.

We require clients, guides, and vehicle suppliers to adhere to our COVID safety standards.

Prior to a Context tour, self reported attestation of the following:

  • Any entry and in-country requirements will be met
  • No known exposure to someone who has shown COVID symptoms or received a positive COVID test in the prior 7 days (including self)
  • Zero symptoms, however mild; temperature check prior to the tour does not show temperature over 100°F (37.8°C)

During a Context tour:

  • Correct wearing of face masks that cover the nose and mouth for the duration of the tour, regardless of country regulations or vaccination status
  • Frequent handwashing, supplemented by use of hand sanitizer - clients and guides alike are expected to bring their own hand sanitizer
  • Appropriate distance between guide and clients at all times
  • No physical contact between guides and clients
  • Vehicles: If car or boat service is used as part of an order, the vehicle must be large enough to carry guide and clients with appropriate distance, likely one class larger than it would have been previously (i.e., minivan instead of sedan, minibus instead of minivan). All vehicle suppliers must affirm their enhanced sanitation, disinfection, and deep cleaning practices prior to service

Following the tour, if we receive a report that there has been a violation of one of the above safety standards, we will take the following actions:

  • Guide violation → Context will unassign guide from all tours for the next 30 days
  • Client violation → Context will immediately cancel any remaining tours scheduled within the next 30 days. Client will not be refunded any monies in this situation.
  • Supplier violation → Context reserves the right to withhold payment for services.
