Derek grew up in the US, but has spent most of his life in Europe. Copenhagen has long been his favorite city, in part for its design sensibility and in part for Denmark's inspiring approach to democracy. He presents the city especially from the perspectives of geography, social science, art, design and architecture. He has 14 years experience in the travel industry, is a certified Denmark guide, and holds a recent master’s degree in applied social science (user research for architects and planners). In his free time, he enjoys singing, dancing lindy hop and gazing at Danish Golden Age paintings.
