Ingrid S.
A few decades ago I was born and raised in Vienna. After my university studies (languages with a focus on linguistics) and several years of teaching in various age groups, I decided it was time for a change. First I started as a tour guide and travelled with Austrians, mostly in Europe, then I trained to become a licensed guide in Austria. This is my main occupation now, I guide tours in English, Italian and German.
Vienna has changed considerably in the last few decades. It has become more modern, which I love, and it also has maintained its Imperial charm and glamour. One of my favourite aspects as a guide is making history more interesting and relatable. It is not only about years and names of rulers, battles and marriages. Those emperors were also private persons with tragic events, lots of quirks and unusual ideas.
If you are interested in the culinary aspects, I’d also love to show you my favourite coffee houses, places for snacks, ice-cream and wine as well as beer. Let's not forget that Vienna's tap water is excellent too.
