Nadia Rhook has a PhD from La Trobe University and has been exploring Melbourne's cafe life for over a decade. Her publications and research specialty are in Asian migration, law and language in colonial Melbourne, and she has a background in linguistics and ESL teaching. She's fascinated by the ways that ordinary people negotiate extraordinary moments in time, and by the diverse cultural life performed in Melbourne's laneways and grand buildings alike.
