Born on Jersey in the Channel Islands, Paul Bernhardt has always lived next to the ocean, which is one of the reasons he embraces Lisbon with so much affection. A permanent resident of the Portuguese capital, Paul’s background is in travel publishing. Holding a BTEC Diploma in Design (Photography) and an NCTJ Certificate in Photojournalism from the National Council for the Training of Journalists, he is the Lisbon writer for 10best.com, a division of USA Today Travel, providing trusted and engaging online content about the city’s diverse culture, cuisine and world-class visitor attractions. Meanwhile, his photography has illustrated Lisbon Encounter, published by Lonely Planet, and the inaugural edition of the Time Out Lisbon city guide. When he’s not exploring his adopted city’s colourful and vibrant neighbourhoods, Paul can be found anywhere else in Portugal – he is the author of the Top 10 Algarve and Top 10 Azores guidebooks, published by Dorling Kindersley.
