Context Travel offers in-depth, expert-led private and small group tours in over 50 destinations worldwide. Our mission is to build a global community of travelers by fostering mutual understanding and promoting sustainable travel.

Our experts work on a freelance basis, according to their schedules and expertise. This would be a great opportunity for Ph.D. students, professors, tour guides, or academic enthusiasts. We offer competitive rates, and our travelers tend to tip generously.

Our Context Story

Context was founded in Rome in 2003 by Paul Bennett and Lani Bevacqua, an ex-pat couple eager to curate experiences for travelers, not tourists. Since then Context has taken over 200,000 people to 60+ destinations around the world – accompanied by thousands of leading experts.

What started as a dream to create cross-cultural connections is now a worldwide network and community of thoughtful, engaged travelers and experts.

Meet Marie in Paris

The daughter of a sculptor, Marie has been surrounded by art ever since she was born. A native Parisienne, she holds an undergraduate degree in history and art history, with a specialty in iconography and French and Flemish paintings.

Connect with Chiara in Rome

Chiara is a native Roman with family roots taking her back to the mountains of Abruzzo. A passionate connoisseur of Rome and its rich cuisine, she is a trained nutritionist and personal chef.

Get to Know Cindy in London

Cindy Polemis is an art historian, an independent lecturer, and tour guide in London. She has a B.A. in History from Oxford University and an M.A. in Art History from Birkbeck College, London University.

Seeking Dynamic Experts and Licensed Guides in Cities Around the World

Applicants should hold a higher degree (MA or Ph.D. or an equivalent credential) and/or have licensure to lead tours as required by cities or venues.
An ability to connect with people of all ages is essential, and demonstrated experience working with or teaching children is a plus.
Fluency in English (all our tours are led in English); bonus if you speak another language, especially Spanish, French, Italian, Portuguese, or Mandarin.
