Olivia made our Vatican visit perfect. She has so much knowledge but also a great sense of humor. Her ability to synthesize an overwhelming amount of art and history into a coherent story was fascinating. And any time we showed interest in something particular she filled in details that brought the object or idea to life.

We had a wonderful private Caravaggio tour with Massimo Porcelli . He was knowledgeable, engaging, and a lot of fun to spend the morning with. What I especially appreciated was that he did much more than simply explain the paintings. He connected Caravaggio’s work to Rome itself — the churches, streets, neighborhoods, patrons, religious history, and everyday life. He also explained very clearly how Renaissance art developed into the Baroque, which helped put Caravaggio and Bernini into a much larger historical context. Along the way, he shared stories about Caravaggio’s life and showed us places connected to where he lived and worked. He told us that he had tested the route the day before to make sure the sites would be open. When one of the churches unexpectedly turned out to be unavailable, he smoothly adjusted the itinerary and took us to another gallery instead. That kind of preparation and flexibility really stood out to me. He is a very responsible, thoughtful, and fun guide to have. I had already visited some of the churches and galleries before, but seeing them again with his explanations made them feel completely different. This was one of the most rewarding tours I had in Rome. Highly recommended.
The tour of the Colosseum, Forum and Palatine Hill with Priscilla was the perfect introduction to Rome. This was our first day in Rome and rather than struggle to find our way around and fight the crowds, Priscilla knew exactly where to go. She had a great depth of knowledge no matter where our questions veered off too. Highly recommend this tour.
