The Vatican Museums routinely presents an extraordinary opportunity to the public by allowing visits the museums on Friday evenings. Taking advantage of this special opening, Context has created a new version of our Vatican Collections walking tour with reserved entry to the evening opening.

The Vatican Collections seminar focuses solely on the Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel, excluding the Basilica of Saint Peter's. Led by an art historian or church historian, the exact course of the itinerary depends on the background of the docent, the interests of the group, and the vicissitudes of the Museums (i.e. which galleries are open on a given evening). We will traverse the halls of the Vatican palaces, visiting the most important rooms of the museums, including the ancient statuary collection of Julius II and the papal apartments decorated by Raphael. Please note that while the galleries may be less crowded during an evening opening, the museums is still open to the public during our visit and you will be in the museums with other visitors. Keep in mind that we do organize other walks at the Vatican. The Arte Vaticana (with reservations) (4 hours) includes a visit to St. Peter's Basilica. Note: The cost of this tour includes your entry fee to the Vatican Museums. Also note that the Vatican has strict dress code requirements; no shorts, short skirts, or bare shoulders. If you come wearing shorts or revealing dress, you will be turned away.
