Rome Orientation

Our Rome Orientation is just that—an orientation. It is an informal introduction to this awe-inspiring city and, especially for first time visitors, an excellent way to begin your Roman sojourn. Over the course of the walk, we aim to give a broad, but comprehensive, look at the city in all of its incarnations. After obtaining the basic tools needed to “read” Rome, you will be all the better prepared for the rest of your stay.

We begin in the elegant and stately Piazza del Popolo and leisurely snake through the neighborhood known commonly as the “Trident.” Strolling through one of the most elegant neighborhoods of Rome, we'll sift through the remains of imperial tombs and obelisks, medieval churches and their legends, Renaissance palaces and princes, and modern efforts at urban renewal. Our walk then takes us through the backstreets of a vibrant artist neighborhood and leaves us in one of the city's most dramatic squares.

This is an orientation level walk, and so it does not go in-depth into architecture, art, or history. We will spend a certain amount of time explaining the sites along the route; but we will also try to situate you in the city, orient you to the major areas, and answer any of your questions.
