Nicknamed "Mother City," Cape Town is the de facto heart of South Africa.
Cape Town is a port city cradled in the bay below South Africa's scenic Table Mountain. It has a colorful past with many different incarnations—from ancient indigenous Khoisan settlement to Dutch colony to slave trading hub to multicultural modern democratic state. Off the coast of Cape Town is Robben Island, the former penitentiary where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned for 18 of his 27 years in jail. Today, Cape Town is celebrated for its panoramic views, multicultural energy, and extensive food and wine scenes. Experience Cape Town private tours with Context Travel.

Bilqees was a highly informative and most memorable guide. Her personal history and knowledge of her community enabled us to understand the unique history of her community. A visit with one of her neighbors was a high point of the tour.

Joline provided a most authoritative and compelling overview of Cape Town’s history focusing on Dutch occupation and the impact of slavery through the 19th century. Her own personal history deeply enriched our experience with her.

Starting with the reservation and going to the reminder on the day of the food tour, Context communication was great. Susy did an amazing job of introducing us to several of the different cruisines in the Cape Town area. We were quite pleased with the tour!
