Route Details


Your tour begins at Puerta de Jerez, once the historic gateway to Seville at the edge of the medieval city. Here, remnants of the city’s Almohad walls highlight its Roman past, when Julius Caesar ordered the first fortifications of Hispali. Your expert will explain how defense, flooding from the Guadalquivir River, and urban planning shaped life within the city.

Moving along, you’ll see Hotel Alfonso XIII, built for the 1929 Ibero-American Exposition. Your expert will detail how Seville used historic architecture to promote tourism and present itself as a modern city. Nearby, the Royal Tobacco Factory uncovers Seville’s industrial and commercial power, linking its global trade past to cultural history through Bizet’s opera Carmen.

You’ll then head into the Jewish Quarter, Santa Cruz, where narrow streets, small squares, and hidden courtyards bring medieval life into focus. Here, your expert will explain how communities lived within the walls and how the neighborhood’s layout reflects coexistence, trade, and everyday routines.

The tour culminates with a visit to the Royal Alcázar of Seville, the oldest royal palace in Europe still in continuous use.   • Important Note: In order for our team to pre-purchase admission tickets on your behalf, full names and passport details for each group member are necessary. If you do not provide these at the time of booking, a member of our team will reach out to you shortly after your booking is placed. 
  • Be advised that all tickets are final upon issuance—alterations or refunds are not permitted.
  • On the day of your tour, it is mandatory to present the same ID card or passport used for ticket booking to gain entry to the Andulisan sites.

Transportation

This is an all-outdoor walking tour. We cannot currently provide a transfer service in Seville, so we suggest you ask your hotel about the best way to arrive at your tour meeting point.

Does the tour include admission to the Cathedral of Seville?
No, we do not currently offer a tour of the Cathedral. However, you will see the exterior during your tour, and your expert will provide an overview of its history and significance.
