About Mike
Mike Armitage has been one of the foremost guides in London for over ten years. Born and raised in London, Mike has lived in Windsor for many years. He spent much of his working life as a customs officer at Heathrow Airport and then moved to central London to work for the British Government, prior to training as a guide. Mike is qualified to guide all the major sites in London and delights in showing visitors the hidden corners and fascinating details of this historic and modern city. He is particularly interested in the history of the First and Second World Wars and enjoys taking visitors to the Churchill War Rooms or the Imperial War Museum, as well as pointing out the still visible traces these conflicts have left in London. As a Windsor resident, Mike’s expertise in guiding Windsor Castle, the Queen’s favourite home, is second to none. Mike has a passion for wildlife, and when not showing clients around London and Windsor, he enjoys walking along the Thames and around Windsor Great Park. Mike also enjoys visiting the battlefields of France and Belgium, watching black and white movies, and researching his family tree. He tries to remain cheerful despite following the mixed fortunes of Fulham Football Club.
