Rainer was born and raised in Munich. He works as a freelance journalist for several magazines and papers, where he has been writing about food, travel, and culture for several years. Since 2000, he has been the editor of Munich's leading city magazine „In-München,“ with a focus on food, wine, restaurants, city life, culture, music, books, and films.
