American-born Sharla arrived in Europe decades ago with a love of Italy and two suitcases. A true foodie, she puts her pen where her mouth is, having published travel articles in La Cucina Italiana magazine and Conde Nast Traveler. She is a cocktail aficionado with her own website called Sharlafied, interviewing bartenders from around the world. Ask her anything about grappa; she edited the Grappa Handbook by the oldest producer in Italy. She is also a hotel reviewer of luxury and unusual hotels and she has slept in a prison, a church, a tree, an ice hotel… and wrote about it, of course. In the summer she sails the Med with her husband on their sailboat.
