Lecture Description
This lecture joins an expert guide as we look around the Cabinet Room where Winston Churchill met with his chiefs of staff and senior ministers to direct the British war effort. We'll hear about how the rooms were planned and built to deal with the threat of Nazi bombing (and just how close they came to being hit in the London Blitz). We'll learn about what life was really like underground.

I visited the Churchill War Room a few years ago and really welcomed the opportunity to learn more about them. I think that Don Brown's presentation was thorough and thoughtful. He brought to life what it was like in London before and during the war and gave us a wonderful tour of the war rooms.
This was such an informative, fascinating tour of the Churchill War Rooms! The photographs and details provided by Don made me feel like I was there. Would like to see additional virtual tours offered by Don Brown. (I had previously taken his London Blitz tour which was also very interesting.)
Very knowledgeable and engaging guides. Every in person and now virtual experience we have has with context has been very well done.
