We were able to experience Dublin in the best possible way to day with Ruairi. Our family (with 2 teenage girls) had a fantastic tour where we got to see the sights, understand the history of Dublin and experience some of the Dubliner culture. Ruairi seems to be part of the cultural fabric of the city and has wonderful insight and stories. We had an awesome time and learned a great deal on our trip. He’s also a joy to spend the day with. Cannot recommend this experience highly enough!
We had a terrific tour with Aidan, and all of us came away with a much clearer understanding of the Troubles -- and how they continue to affect Belfast today. He showed us different neighborhoods and the symbolism they use to reflect their political and religious views -- which we definitely wouldn't have understood if we'd been traveling on our own.
Ireland is a place where history often feels close to the surface. It lives in language, music, memory, public monuments, churchyards, manuscripts, murals, pubs, and streets where political and cultural change unfolded within living memory. Dublin and Belfast offer two different ways into that story. Dublin reveals Ireland through literature, medieval learning, Georgian streets, independence movements, and food traditions shaped by land and sea. Belfast brings another perspective, shaped by industrial growth, shipbuilding, political conflict, resilience, and a complex relationship with both Ireland and the United Kingdom. The best guided tours of Ireland help travelers move beyond familiar symbols and into a deeper understanding of place. Context Travel’s Ireland tours are led by historians, literature specialists, art experts, food specialists, and local scholars who help connect what you see to the people, ideas, and events that shaped it. Whether you are visiting for the first time or returning with a specific interest, our tours are designed to help you understand Ireland through conversation, context, and careful storytelling.
