Florence Food Tour with Wine Tasting

Taste local delicacies, wine, and the stories behind each flavor across the streets of Florence

The Finer Details
Florence has long defined itself through its food. On this two and a half hour walking tour, you will join a local chef or food writer to explore the flavors and traditions that shaped Tuscan cuisine. Instead of a sit-down meal, the tour moves through the city streets, markets, and artisanal shops to reveal the foods Florentines love and the stories behind them. Along the way, you will sample regional specialties, including truffle sandwiches, salami, focaccia, pastries, and gelato when in season.

Route Details

The journey begins in the historic center, where centuries-old bakeries, markets, and cafes offer a window into Florence's culinary life. Your guide will highlight the citys iconic flavors while discussing the origins of local products, from the hills that produce wild truffles to the fertile fields that yield grapes for world-renowned wines. Each taste is paired with insights into why Florence became a culinary destination and how local ingredients continue to influence the citys modern food scene.

As you explore, the history of Florence comes alive through food. The region's produce, meats, and wines tell the story of its agriculture, social customs, and trade. You will taste some of Tuscany's most celebrated wines, learning how they gained international fame and what makes them distinctive. This is a tour for curious palates who want to go beyond the famous steak and experience the street foods, market specialties, and wines that truly define Florence.

Nebojsa was a wonderful guide. He was extremely knowledgeable on art, history and overall knowledge of Florence and other locations. He really seemed good to share with us and make sure we were very well taken care of. I am a newer travel advisor and would highly recommend Nebojsa to anyone wanting a great guide of Florence.

Wonderful food tour, one of the best we've experienced in Italy!

Antonio was a fabulous guide. We would recommend him and Context Travel to anyone wanting to get a deeper view of Florence from a local. Even though we had been to Florence before, we loved experiencing new things - especially the olive oil tasting and wine tasting in a gorgeous historic building. Antonio was so knowledgeable about the history of the city and how food played a role. Definitely one of the highlights of our trip.
