Tour Description
This full-day excursion to the Amalfi Coast from Naples will help you discover three of the picturesque villages on the northern coast of the Salerno Gulf, Sorrento, Positano and Amalfi. The small villages dotted along the Amalfi Coastline are dominated by majolica-tiled domes of picturesque churches and are characterized by flights of steps and tiny roads, which lead to elegant houses, breathtaking villas, and luxurious hotels.

Accompanied by a local expert, you will learn about the rich historical legacy and charming culture that you'll find in the villages juxtaposed with the deep blue and emerald green waters of the Mediterranean Sea.

You'll be picked up at your Naples accommodation and whisked away for your day exploring one of Italy's most iconic coastlines with your expert guide and private driver. Upon arriving at your first stop, the stunning village of Sorrento, your expert will make every minute count and begin with a walking tour of the heart of the town. As you meander through the main squares and historic lanes, you'll surely pass Cattedrale di Sorrento, the most important church in Sorrento, where a beautiful Neapolitan crib is kept. Before continuing with your Amalfi Coast journey, you may decide to sample some gelato or limoncello at one of the local shops.

Moving on to a well-known steep-sloped holiday destination, you'll arrive in the town of Positano, where you'll find a pebbled beachfront and plenty of Moorish-style architecture to admire, along with the 13th-century Byzantine icon of the Virgin Mary, the Church of Saint Mary of the Assumption. Regardless of the season you visit, you'll enjoy the narrow streets lined up with cafes and boutiques, as well as various options for your expert guide to suggest stopping for lunch (at your own expense).

In the afternoon, you'll finish with a visit to the village of Amalfi and dive into its maritime power and high position in medieval architecture. Surely you'll pass the Fountain of Sant'Andrea as well as the Duomo di Sant'Andrea, which stands in its glory on a great flight of steps leading up from the main square, where its exquisite façade recalls the Bizantine art and northern architecture.

At the conclusion of your day trip, your expert will deliver you back to your Naples accommodation. With the dramatic topography and rich history fresh in your mind, you'll end your day with a broader understanding of why this coastline has such an allure to visitors and continues to be such a popular UNESCO World Heritage Site.
What is a private tour?
Our private tours are limited exclusively to travelers in your party. Private tours give you more flexibility with scheduling (how long you’d like to spend at each stop) and more personalized time with your guide.

Where do we meet? Where does it end?
You will start and end at your Naples accommodation, where you will be picked up by your private driver.

Is the cost of lunch or any tastings included in the excursion?
No, you'll be responsible for covering the cost of lunch for you and the expert. This day trip is packed with sites, and your expert will have recommendations of various local options for lunch depending on your interests.

Does this tour need to be all day?
To visit more than one town along the coast, there must be time to take into account possible traffic. The Amalfi Coast has become wildly popular over the years, so your expert and driver will do their best to navigate the traffic and stick to the timeline of the tour. We appreciate your understanding and flexibility should they need to adapt due to unforeseen road closures or traffic.

What if it’s raining?
Tours operate rain or shine, but in the case of inclement weather, your expert will modify the tour so more time is spent indoors. It never hurts to be prepared; we encourage keeping an eye on the weather and bringing along an umbrella, sunscreen, water, or a hat as needed.

Is this tour walking-intensive, and/or wheelchair accessible?
We do cover extensive territory on this tour. With so many steep inclines and cobblestoned streets in the towns, this tour isn’t recommended to wheelchair users. Please contact us if you have any specific questions regarding accessibility.

Can I be picked up from a location outside of Naples?
Yes, in most cases, we can arrange pickups from locations such as the Naples Train Station or the Port, Amalfi, Positano, and Sorrento. Please let our team know when booking, and we’ll confirm availability and make the necessary arrangements.

10/10 -- would absolutely recommend this tour! We’ve done a few Context tours, and they’re always great because they pair you with exceptional people. Riccardo was a fantastic guide for the day and Pepe couldn’t have been a more accommodating driver. Riccardo was incredibly personable, and we got to know each other well throughout the tour, which always makes the experience more special. When you’re spending a full day with someone, it becomes more than just a tour -- it feels like spending the day with a friend. He came in with a plan but also asked us a lot about ourselves: where we’re from, where we’ve traveled, what we enjoy, and what our daily lives are like. This helped him curate some truly special moments tailored to us -- not just standard tourist stops. In fact, he went out of his way to share unique places with us, and they were some of the highlights of our trip. His background as a teacher and art historian really shone through. He was kind, very funny, and an absolute pleasure to spend the day with. He also gave us excellent recommendations for where to eat and what to see and do during the rest of our stay in Napoli. We’ll be recommending this tour to all our friends, and we’ll be sure to tell them to ask specifically for Riccardo and Pepe -- you truly couldn’t imagine a better day with better people.
