The D-Day and Normandy Beaches Excursion from Paris is approximately 12 hours. Depending on train ticket times, clients depart by themselves from the Paris St-Lazare station between 8:15-8:45 am and arrive in Caen around 11:00 am, where the guide and driver will be waiting. Clients will return to the station around 7:00 pm, arriving in Paris around 9:00 pm.

Our guide William gave us a master class in all things D-Day. His knowledge was amazing, and it was not surprising that he had written several tour guides on the topic and the location. It was amazing to walk the actual ground of the battle - much of the land has of course changed but in some locations it has remains unchanged, with craters and damaged German positions showing the effects of the invasion. William timed our visit to the American Cemetery in Normandy with the daily lowering of the flag ceremony; the playing of taps during the ceremony was very emotional. It is at once a very beautiful and very sad place. Several other stops during the day provide a comprehensive first hand account of the complexities, military and personal, of the largest invasion in world history.

We loved this tour, and our guide, William was excellent. Very knowledgeable and interesting to listen to. The sights and history of this area are so interesting and impactful when thinking about what it might have been like for the soldiers in 1944. Also, our return train to Paris was cancelled by the rail system, and William and our driver Quentin, and also Context stepped up and found a solution to get us back to Paris. Would highly recommend all three and this tour.
