Route Details

Your Triana tour begins as you cross the Puente de Isabel II, where the neighborhood’s strong and independent identity immediately becomes clear. From the bridge, your expert will explain how the Guadalquivir River shaped trade, communication, and daily life, and how Triana developed as a distinct community on Seville’s western bank.

The walk continues into the Alfarería de Triana, where local clay and water supported a pottery tradition dating back to Roman Hispalis and flourishing during al-Andalus. This area brings the neighborhood’s commercial and industrial past vividly to life, showing how Triana became a center for ceramics used locally and exported abroad.

Triana’s cultural passions are also highlighted. Its proximity to the Maestranza bullring reflects historic ties to bullfighting, while flamenco emerged from daily life in patios and streets. Along the river, the Reales Almonas demonstrate Triana’s industrial importance through historic soap production.

The tour then visits the Capillita del Carmen, dedicated to sailors, and the Triana Market, built over the former Castle of San Jorge, once the seat of the Inquisition. The journey concludes at the Church of Santa Ana, Triana’s oldest parish church, offering insight into a neighborhood shaped by craft, devotion, and centuries of living history.
