Local Guide in Singapore
About Imran

Imran Ahmed holds a Master of Arts in International Affairs from King's College London, where his research examined Singapore's capacity to sustain neutrality amid growing US-China competition in the Asia-Pacific. He also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Diplomacy and World Affairs, with a minor in Philosophy, from Occidental College in Los Angeles.

Originally from Pakistan, Imran has lived and worked in Los Angeles, London, Dubai, and Karachi, settling in Singapore in 1997. After an earlier career in finance, he began volunteering as a docent at the National Museum of Singapore in 2009, and has been guiding independently since 2013, focusing on Singapore's culture, heritage, and history.

Beyond guiding, Imran writes a regular Substack on history and current affairs (@imransg) and stays active by volunteering in his community. He's traveled to over 50 countries (and counting!), and enjoys photography and reading in his free time. On his tours, he uses Singapore's sights and sounds - its streets, food, and buildings - to bring the island's history and its communities to life for visitors.
