Maria Lucia is an Italian museum professional and architect based in Amsterdam. She has an MA in Museology and a WO in Architecture. She has had a wide range of work experience, including as architect, photographer, art curator, exhibition designer, researcher, writer, project developer, and expert museum guide. As an expert guide, she mainly focuses on diversity and public participation issues, with the aim of bringing people closer to art, culture, and heritage. When she worked as an art curator and exhibition designer for Beeldend Gesproken in Amsterdam, an art gallery and cultural podium specialized in artists with a psychiatric background, she created, developed, and built several exhibitions and programs.
Among her multiple interests (literature, cinema, yoga, photography, traveling, etc.) she is passionate about Vincent van Gogh, as “the essence of the artist” and as an endless source of inspiration, and Rembrandt van Rijn as “the master of light and empathy.” She truly loves Amsterdam, her home for many many years.
Maria Lucia strongly believes in the social mission of art that can deeply reach the community. She believes in people and their personal development, and that art, heritage, and culture are powerful tools to promote this process. Moreover, she loves to explore beyond the boundaries, searching for new perspectives, while keeping her tours interesting, engaging, and stimulating. Her usual dose of passion, sensitivity, kindness, and humor - in work and life - is never lacking!
