Barcelona Gothic Quarter Tour for Kids

Learn why dragons are the most ubiquitous creatures in the Barri Gotic in this dynamic family tour

The Finer Details
Hidden in dark corners of the Gothic Quarter, or sleeping in the upscale apartments of the Eixample, Barcelona’s most illustrious inhabitants watch silently as tourists and natives walk the city’s streets. But of whom do we speak, exactly? Dragons of course! Barcelona is home to the largest population of dragons in Europe. Carved out of stone, pieced together with bright tiles, or forged in a hot fire and beaten into shape on an anvil, these creatures guard ancient and modern façades all over the city. Our 2-hr Barcelona with kids tour provides an orientation to the Gothic Quarter through exploring the city's most iconic symbol, along the way revealing the history—both legendary and real—of the Catalan capital.

How to See Barcelona with Kids

Strap on your armor and grab your spear, as we head out into the streets of the Gothic Quarter in search of Barcelona's dragons. Along the way, you will stop by some of the area's most important monuments, tracing the Gothic Quarter's history while discovering the city’s special relationship with dragons. Strolling La Rambla, Barcelona's main pedestrian thoroughfare, we will admire the rich diversity of architecture on display, learning about the myths, legends, and yes, dragons that are associated with each of them.

"[Our guide] was amazing! Before retiring, I was the principal of a private school in Washington, D.C., and I thought to myself that he is exactly the kind of teacher I would have jumped at the chance to hire...really an incredible experience."

Great tour with Olga! My wife and I had our two young boys with us (age 7 and 10) and she made the tour a blast for them. She created a scavenger hunt and had games sprinkled throughout that connected to the learnings and kept them very engaged. She was extremely knowledgeable and we all had a great time touring Barcelona’s old town.

Jaume was a delightful guide. All 4 of us - including my girls ages 9 and 11 - enjoyed the tour very much. Jaume was engaging and entertaining and hit the highlights well. Also, we speak English and appreciated his clear communication with us in our language! We highly recommend this tour for families traveling with children.

This was a truly stellar experience for a 3 and 6 year old AND their parents — no easy feat! Biel kept our kids engaged and entertained, and our 6 year old learned so much (as did we!) whilst having a great time. So impressed with Biel’s charm, knowledge, and teaching skills for a family ranging in ages from 3 to 40! Will absolutely recommend to all.
