Uffizi Gallery Tour for Kids

Learn about Renaissance art as a family on this interactive tour

The Finer Details
This two and a half hour Uffizi tour for kids pairs families with an engaging, family-friendly guide for an interactive exploration of the Uffizi Gallery designed to bring this world-famous collection of Renaissance art to life for budding art enthusiasts and introduce them to the great masters of Italy.

We’ll begin our time together with a short introduction in Piazza della Signoria, discussing the Uffizi's structure and its relation to Palazzo Vecchio, Florence's town hall, as well as the importance of the Medici family. After spending some time outside, we will continue to the museum, where we will spend roughly two hours exploring the collection. Looking for the grown-up version of this tour? Try our Uffizi Tour.

The guide will begin an engrossing dialogue with your children about the art, focusing on recurring subjects, themes and symbols, the historical background in which these works were created, and biographical information about the artists, while creating an atmosphere of exploration and participation. By the end of the walk, your children will have a very clear idea of how and why art is created and will be able to better appreciate the artwork they will encounter throughout their trip.

About You

In order to plan the best possible experience for your children, it would be helpful for us to know some background. Have they traveled to other countries in the past? If so, where? Have they studied any subjects in school that would relate to the walk? Are they interested in art, music, or even food? The more you can tell us, the better.

FAQ

What is a private tour?
Our private tours are limited exclusively to travelers in your party. They are designed to provide a learning experience that is completely tailored to you and your traveling companions. Private tours give you more flexibility with scheduling (you decide when the walk best fits in your trip), the ability to tailor your itinerary (we'll work to match the itinerary to the interests and dynamics of your group), and more personalized time with your guide.

Will you pre-purchase tickets?
Yes, we pre-purchase timed tickets to the Uffizi. Your guide will have them on hand, and we will enter the museum together as a group. However, please keep in mind that we will still be required to wait in the security line. The Uffizi is extremely crowded, and at times, this line may take up to 20 minutes. Regardless, our guide will spend this time wisely by providing an overview of the history of the collection.

There are 10 in my group but your website won't allow me to include more than 9 participants. Can't you make an exception?
No, unfortunately, due to venue reservation restrictions, we cannot accommodate groups larger than 9 people. If your group is larger, we recommend that you split into multiple groups.

Can we include the Vasari Corridor (Corridoio Vasariano) in this tour?
No, unfortunately, we cannot include the Vasari Corridor in this tour due to the logistics of the itinerary. While the corridor is a remarkable site, its difficulty in securing tickets and its tight timing make it incompatible with the structure of this tour.

Accessibility

We understand that some of our valued guests may have mobility concerns, and we want to ensure you have a comfortable and enjoyable experience throughout your tour. If there are any accessibility concerns that your tour guide will need to be aware of, please let our team know at the time of booking.

Is this tour wheelchair-friendly?
Given its significance and the vast number of visitors it attracts, the venue has made efforts to improve accessibility for all its visitors, including those with disabilities. However, it's worth noting that the collections are housed in a historic building which can present certain challenges for accessibility. Additional details are available here. Please communicate any mobility needs or concerns with our team at the time of booking.

Accessibility Notice: Starting December 2024: The elevators to the second floor are currently out of service due to renovations. Unfortunately, we do not have an estimated timeline for their return to service. Please note that our gallery begins on the second floor. Visitors will need to use the stairs unless prior arrangements are made. For guests with disabilities who cannot use the stairs, an alternative route is available. However, this path adds approximately 1 kilometer to the tour, requiring the use of an elevator at the museum's exit and additional walking time back to the entrance. This may extend the overall tour time. We are happy to accommodate this option, but it is crucial to let us know when you book so we can inform your guide and ensure everything is prepared in advance. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

GREAT GUIDE, MY KIDS LOVE IT

We absolutely loved meeting you Valerie. We can tell you love your job and because you do, we loved our experience with you. You are amazing.

What can I say but FANTASTIC tour and Valerie was the best guide. She matched the level of our small group (4) with our interests. She was so knowledgeable and knew all the small interesting facts that were relevant and gave context and depth to the paintings. We were ages from 65 to 11, she understood what was interesting to each age and highlighted the paintings that had a story behind them. Do not miss asking for her if you have a private tour or large. I wish I could have stayed all day and wandered through with her. If I come back to Florence, I will definitely take a longer tour but as this was for a family, it was shorter. Two of the members had jet lag so we passed by a few galleries. I would recommend Valerie and Context for knowledgeable and expert guides.
