Located only one hour from the bustle of Marrakech, the Agafay is a hamada, a rocky desert plateau shaped by wind erosion. Silence has a texture here. Leaving Marrakech behind by private car, the city’s rhythm softens into open road and pale stone. Your local guide begins to sketch the story of this land, where herders once followed short grass cycles after winter storms, moving goats and sheep across what looks, at first glance, like emptiness.

Agafay is not sand dunes but hamada, a rocky plateau shaped by wind and time. The terrain feels almost lunar, and as the sun lowers, gold light gathers in every curve and hollow. After days in busy squares and winding souks, the contrast feels deliberate, almost restorative.

At the camp, mount a camel and sway into the horizon. The pace slows to a rhythm that invites reflection. What happens when time stretches and the only sound is the soft step of hooves on stone? Warm tones sweep across the hills as the sun slips behind them, and the desert settles into dusk.

How will we get around during the tour? For your comfort and safety, all our tours in Morocco include private, air-conditioned transportation. Your vehicle and driver are at your complete disposal for the entire duration of the tour, providing a seamless way to move between sites or take a quick break from the heat.

Does the tour include hotel pickup? Yes. We provide door-to-door service with private transfers to and from your accommodation. To ensure a smooth start to your experience, please provide your complete hotel or riad address at the time of booking.

Can I take this tour if I have mobility issues? Unfortunately, this is not a good option for people with mobility issues. The camel ride could be skipped, but the camp is very rocky and not at all accessible to people with mobility issues.

Can we bring our kids? Absolutely! Families are very welcome, and the tour can be enjoyed by guests of all ages.

Can I take this tour if I have dietary restrictions? Yes, this tour is suitable for vegans and vegetarians. Please note the food is not suitable for celiac guests due to cross-contamination.

Can I skip the camel ride if we’re scared? Yes, of course. Experiences and food tastings are never mandatory and everybody is more than welcome to participate at their comfort level.

Can we take this tour in the morning? We specifically designed this tour to take place in the late afternoon/evening in order to take advantage of the sunset in the desert. If you have specific needs to reschedule this tour, please let us know at checkout and we will try our best to accommodate.

Should we wear anything particular? While there is no strict, enforced dress code, visitors should dress modestly out of respect for local culture and to protect from the sun, wind and dust. It is recommended to cover shoulders, arms and knees, and wear hats and sunscreen.
