So far, I've been very impressed. I am not normally a tour person, as I tend to prefer to enjoy sites at my own pace. But on the "Rome Holiday walks", Lauren Golden tied together many historical odds and ends that I had been puzzling over throughout my trip in Italy (I had visited Venice and Florence prior to Rome). Wonderful holiday treat, and Santa Maria Maggiore was something I would have missed if left to my own devices. So glad I saw it! Would you please pass a message on to Lauren for me? Tell her that I did go to Capitoline Museum because she had intrigued me, and I indeed did love the Tabularium. Astounding and the only thing I've seen close to it is the Qing Chinese house in the courtyard of Salem, MA's Peabody Essex Museum. The view of the ruins from the tabularium is the closest I've come to standing in the shoes of the 19th century travel writers. Grazie!
We really enjoyed the quality of the tour guide....Dr. Golden was great....she was very knowledgeable and provided a lot of background information...it was really like a bunch of friends out for a walk...Everything worked....she was a great guide....she knows a lot about the places we visited and shared that knowledge in a very nice easy going way.
It was a perfect day! What more can be said?
