Route Details

This 2-hour walking tour starts right in the heart of it all: Piazza San Marco. Here, you’ll pause outside St. Mark’s Basilica and hear stories about its incredible architecture, why its domes and pinnacles resemble a mosque more than a typical church, and why that difference matters. Venice was a republic built on trade in the Middle Ages and the Renaissance. It was the gateway between East and West: from the Middle East to India, China, and beyond.
