Peyton E.
Peyton is an art historian, artist, and experienced cultural guide. Originally from California, she relocated to Aix-en-Provence in 2021, where she earned both her MA in Art History and her MFA in painting. Her Master's research investigated the use of religious and sacred images in the late medieval period.
Peyton is a lecturer at Aix-Marseille University, teaches plein air painting in the Provençal countryside, and has led immersive historical visits in France, Italy, and Greece spanning from antiquity to contemporary art. Direct engagement with the distinctive light, landscapes, and historical landmarks of the Mediterranean is a central aspect of her personal practice, guiding, and teaching. Her blend of academic training, artistic practice, and life in the region allows Peyton to offer tours that weave together art, history, architecture, and the natural environment, helping visitors connect to Provence in vivid and memorable ways.
