The Finer Details
Tuscany’s story is not written in one city alone. It unfolds across a network of proud communes, each shaping its own identity through rivalry, trade, and artistic ambition. Travel through this landscape reveals how diversity, not uniformity, defines the region.

In Lucca, traces of Rome remain quietly embedded in daily life. Walk along streets that follow ancient grids, pause in piazzas shaped by long-vanished structures, and notice how wealth from silk production once elevated this small republic onto a European stage. What does it mean for a city to carry its past so visibly into the present?

Architecture here speaks of movement and exchange. Positioned along the Via Francigena, Lucca absorbed influences from travelers, pilgrims, and merchants. Churches and facades reflect this flow of ideas, blending local tradition with wider European currents.

Pisa offers a different rhythm, one shaped by maritime power and global reach. Its Romanesque style draws from distant shores, a visual record of encounters across the Mediterranean. The famous leaning tower stands not as a mistake alone, but as a reminder of geography, ambition, and experimentation intertwined.

Between these cities, time slows for a shared meal and quiet reflection. Conversations deepen, connections form, and the landscape itself becomes part of the experience. By the end, Tuscany reveals itself not as a single narrative, but as a collection of voices, each contributing to a richer whole.

Frequently Asked Questions

Absolutely! We welcome families and travelers of all ages. However, please note that the itinerary is quite comprehensive and involves a significant amount of walking over the course of a full day. We recommend ensuring that younger children are comfortable with a more active pace.
We do not include a climb to the top of the tower in our standard itinerary. Our focus is on providing a seamless, high-value experience; the long wait times for the tower can often disrupt the day’s logistics. Furthermore, we believe the experience of the climb does not add any value to the tour. Please note that the tower also has very limited accessibility.
We are happy to consider alternative pickup locations on a case-by-case basis. If your accommodation is outside central Florence, please provide the details at checkout. We will contact you to discuss the logistics and any potential additional transportation fees that may apply.

Yes, we can certainly arrange a meeting point in Lucca. Please specify this preference during checkout. Please be aware that because our guides travel from Florence, the private car service remains reserved for their transit; therefore, meeting in Lucca does not result in a price reduction. Additionally, the start time in Lucca may be slightly later than the standard Florence departure.
Certainly. If you wish to remain in Pisa at the end of the day, please let us know at checkout so we can coordinate accordingly. Since our guides are based in Florence, the car service is still required for their return journey. Choosing this option may result in the tour concluding slightly earlier than scheduled, as it will not include the final drive back to the city.
Our Lucca and Pisa itinerary is carefully curated to provide the most seamless and high-quality experience possible. For this reason, we strongly recommend sticking to the standard route. Should you wish to visit a different town, this would require a fully customized itinerary designed by our dedicated planning team and will involve a separate quoting process.
