Tour Description
You’ve read all the books and watched every series and documentary about this intriguing family. Now, instead of imagining Tudor life from afar, you are finally stepping inside Hampton Court Palace, the residence that Henry VIII called home.
Here, history reveals itself in a way that the media can never convey. As you move throughout the palace, you can almost hear the echoes of the maidens attending to Anne Boleyn or the courtiers navigating the ambitions and politics of Henry VIII’s court.
With the help of an expert historian, you’ll uncover what daily life was like for those who lived here and gain a deeper understanding of why Hampton Court stood at the center of one of the most pivotal moments in English history.
Choose this tour if…

Experts
Step out of modern London and into the turbulent world of the Tudors on a journey to Hampton Court Palace, the ultimate Tudor power base and the most famous home of Henry VIII. Your visit begins at the West Gatehouse and Base Court, where your expert guide sets the scene of a court defined by ambition and spectacle.
Passing through Anne Boleyn’s Gatehouse into Clock Court, you’ll admire the famous Astronomical Clock, a renowned Renaissance piece. Once inside, you’ll explore the vast Great Hall with its impressive hammer-beam roof, and take in the Great Watching Chamber, where political and personal dramas unfolded. Along the way, your expert will share stories of Henry VIII’s six queens and help you spot both Catherine of Aragon’s pomegranate symbol carved above a doorway and Jane Seymour’s coat of arms on the ceiling.
As you continue your exploration on, you may stand in the very room where Catherine Howard’s affair was revealed, sealing her tragic fate. From there, you will see the Chapel Royal, still an active place of worship before continuing on to the enormous kitchens that once prepared food for more than 1,000 people a day.
Your tour ends in the gardens, where you may explore the historic tennis court or Henry VIII’s tiltyard where tournaments were held. You’ll leave with a deeper understanding into the daily life of Henry Vill’s court and the lives of those who helped shape it.
- Hampton Court Palace - Former royal residence, best known as the home of King Henry VIII.

Barbara’s tour was fantastic. Equally important to her vast knowledge about Hampton Court, was her presentation, which was conversational, and allowed for great dialogues and Q&As. It was a cold day but she kept us distracted with the captivating history, architecture, art, and gardens of Hampton Court. Truly memorable.
